Jingdezhen Porcelain ware (China) / 景德镇
The history of the capital of porcelain, Jingdezhen, began more than a thousand years ago. The white porcelains are made from clay mineral with a splendid whiteness, Kaolinite, yielded in the city of Kao-ling. During the years of Jingdez (1004 - 1007), the emperor Zhenzong of Song founded its own kiln to produce these masterpieces. There was the time when national assets and know-how were gathered to produce white porcelain, which has influenced so much to Imari (Arita) of Japan and Meissen of Germany, to mention only few.
Today, in this city of Jiangxi Province, a sixth of the population (100,000 people) work for the porcelain industry.
