Meissen / 梅森 Meissen is the oldest manufacture of porcelain in Europe. Until the 17th century, the beautiful texture of Oriental porcelains has been envied from the European lords. In 1709, under the command of the king of Poland August I, the German alchemist Johann Friedrich Bottger created European porcelains, which rival with Oriental porcelains.
The following year, the Royal Porcelain Manufactory was founded in Meissen city, near the river Elbe: it is the beginning of their long history. Nowadays, Meissen still reproduces perfectly their traditional and classic porcelains, thanks to archetypes, documents or techniques which are kept and passed. Its new fashionable creations also receive high reputation.
