Enamel Cloisonne
Enamel Cloisonne ware is a metal working technique, which consists of applying a multi-colored glassy glaze onto a metal surface before its baking. Its origin dates back to the time of the ancient Persia and the ancient Egypt, before arriving in Japan during the Asuka period (7th century). The elegant tint and sheen has been compared to "Seven Treasure - Shippo"(Suvarna, Rupya, Vaidurya, Sphatika, Musaragalva, Rohitamukta, Asmagarbha) of the Buddhist Sutra. Delicate and ornate skills of the artisans made brilliant "Shippo", which was highly praised both inside and outside Japan.
