theme of the 2021 Royal Copenhagen Yearplate, which celebrates its 114th anniversary
, is "WINTER IN THE GARDEN".
Since the first edition was made in 1908, it has been produced every year without missing a single piece, using the
underglaze technique (a method of baking with a glaze over the top of the painting) that beautifully expresses the shade of cobalt blue every year as before.

Almost sucked into the world of blue and white, Danish ceramics maker Royal Copenhagen is about to be sucked in. In the early 1770s, the scientist Müller succeeded in firing Denmark's first porcelain and its history began.
