Vienna Rose Pink / Vieille Rose de Herend (Habsbourg Rose)The year 2012 marks the 175th anniversary of the birth of Empress Elisabeth of Habsburg, who loved Hungary and loved Herend very much. To commemorate such a festive year, a new pink color of the "Vienna Rose" was launched.
A three-dimensional rose blooms in the center, surrounded by small parsley leaves. The design with pink lines is full of a very noble prettiness, and is a series that fascinates the viewer.
The "Vienna Rose", also known as the "Habsburg Rose", was originally produced by the Vienna kiln (now the Augarten kiln) as a favorite set for Empress Elisabeth of the Habsburgs, who was known as the aristocrat among aristocrats.
When the Vienna kiln closed in 1864, many of the molds and patterns, including the "Vienna Rose", were transferred to Herend in Hungary on the orders of then Emperor Franz Joseph. Herend continued to deliver them until the emperor retired from the throne, and the "Vienna Rose" was treated as a pattern that never left the Habsburgs' gates.
After World War I, the Habsburgs abdicated the throne and the "Vienna Rose" was produced for the general public, and it is now one of Herend's most popular patterns.
Herend
In 1826, Herend opened a kiln on the western edge of Hungary, near the border with Austria. This small pottery kiln was purchased by Mor Fischer in 1839, and he began to focus on the production of tableware.
In 1851, Queen Victoria purchased a set of tableware for Windsor Castle, and Herend became one of the most famous kilns in Europe.
In 1866, when Franz Joseph, then Emperor of Austria, became Emperor of Hungary, Herend tableware graced the banquets at his court. Under the protection of the Habsburgs, who were known as the noblest of the nobility, Herend tableware attracted the royalty and aristocracy of Vienna and other European countries. Herend developed together with the Austrian court, which was prosperous at the time.
Today, Herend continues to uphold the tradition of handmade work, from modeling to painting, while creating new motifs one after another. The combination of traditioni and nnovation is a very important element of Herend Porcelain.
