In 1709, the Meissen kiln was the first in Europe to successfully manufacture white porcelain. Until then, porcelain had only been imported from the East, and it was a very valuable commodity that only royalty and nobles could obtain. At the behest of Augustus, then Marquis of Saxony (now Germany), it was studied over a period of nine years, and as a result, white porcelain was born. Since then, Meissen has gained worldwide fame as the oldest kiln in Europe.
The mark of the sword called "Blue Twin Swords" has the meaning of preventing the mystery from being taken out. Even now, painting is done entirely by hand by proud craftsmen, and the beauty cultivated in the tradition has become widely admired by people.
"About the back stamp of tableware"
The design of the back stamp may differ from the product image depending on the time of manufacture.
A work using the indigo color of dyeing, which is a tradition of Meissen. The light touch of the brush strokes gives a sense of brightness. Flowers painted in the same shape as "The Play of the Waves" with indigo shades. This is a work that Meissen sent out with an eye on the 21st century.
