In 1709, the Meissen kiln was the first in Europe to succeed in producing white porcelain. Until then, porcelain had only been imported from the East, and was a very valuable item that only royalty and aristocrats could have. As a result of nine years of research on the orders of August, then Margrave of Saxony (now Germany), white porcelain was born. Since then, Meissen has gained worldwide fame as the oldest kiln in Europe.
The symbol of the sword called "Blue Twin Swords" is said to mean that the secret law cannot be left out. Even now, all the paintings are hand-painted by proud artisans, and the beauty cultivated in this tradition is widely admired.
"About tableware back stamp"
The design of the back stamp may differ from the product image depending on the time of manufacture.
The Neuer Ausschnitt shape
was created in 1745 by Johann Joachim Kendler, a leading sculptor of Meissen. "Neuer" = new, "Ausschnitt" = cut out, meaning. The design made so that the edges are cut off during molding is fresh, and it seems that this name was given. From chinoiserie to Blue Onions such as Indian flowers are the most popular forms of Meissen tableware. The saucer of the cup, which has no grooves, is deep, and the handle of the cup with a downward orientation called a twist is finished to weave two pieces of clay.
