Description
Carnets d'EquateurA series of vibrant animal paintings by Robert Dallet (1923-2006).
He was a French artist and naturalist who devoted his life to representing animals from around the world on paper. He was one of Hermès' foremost animal painters and created many masterpieces that have left their mark on his history.
Jaguars, macaws, leopards, impalas... Fascinated by the unfolding spectacle of the animals, Dare depicted them with an ultra-realistic technique using charcoal, pencil and ink underdrawings, colouring with gouache and oil.
The animals seem ready to move at any moment. If you listen carefully, you can hear the realistic chirping of birds, the breathing of tigers and the rustling of grass as they walk. In Robert's hands, animal paradise comes alive. The leopard particularly fascinated Robert. He freely depicted its supple and agile movements, its overwhelming beauty and mysterious appearance.
