Herend "Rothschild Bird" RO 00606-0-05 Tea Pot (Bird knob) 800ml *
Description
Rothschild Bird / Rothschild OiseauxIt is famous as a favorite pattern of the Rothschild family, which was an English family of barons and was close to Queen Victoria.
This is a very lovely gem, featuring a pair of birds resting on a twig, as well as butterflies, plants, and various other creatures elegantly depicted. There are a total of 12 different bird patterns, and the light and bright brush strokes seem as if you can hear the clear singing of the birds at any moment. The necklace on a tree branch is based on an episode of Queen Victoria.
One day at a garden party attended by Baron Rothschild, the queen's favorite necklace went missing. When everyone looked for it, the necklace was caught on a tree branch. The Baron deftly manages to avoid leaving a lasting impression on everyone present.
He had Herend hastily create a pattern of the Rothschild family bird motif with the necklace added to it and presented it to the queen, thus settling the matter by pretending that it was all a trick of the birds.
Herend
In 1826, Herend opened a kiln on the western edge of Hungary, near the border with Austria. This small pottery kiln was purchased by Mor Fischer in 1839, and he began to focus on the production of tableware.
In 1851, Queen Victoria purchased a set of tableware for Windsor Castle, and Herend became one of the most famous kilns in Europe.
In 1866, when Franz Joseph, then Emperor of Austria, became Emperor of Hungary, Herend tableware graced the banquets at his court. Under the protection of the Habsburgs, who were known as the noblest of the nobility, Herend tableware attracted the royalty and aristocracy of Vienna and other European countries. Herend developed together with the Austrian court, which was prosperous at the time.
Today, Herend continues to uphold the tradition of handmade work, from modeling to painting, while creating new motifs one after another. The combination of traditioni and nnovation is a very important element of Herend Porcelain.
