Augarten "Animal - Butterfly" Plain Pink Figurine H3.5cm
Description
Augarten figures are not molded from a ceramic body, but consist of a number of fine parts.
The sink mold is molded
into several parts, such as hands, feet, head, and clothes, in order to maintain fine workmanship.
These parts are attached with liquid ceramic clay on the body, and
even if there are few, they will not fall below 10 pieces, and
68 pieces are used in the figurine of the Spanish Riding School, which is famous as a representative work of Augarten
.
The series of work, such as the hardness of the clay and the time required for cutting the die, is all carried out by the intuition of skilled craftsmen.
Augarten's delicate figurines are very realistic and truly comforting.
In 1718, the "Vienna
Porcelain Workshop Augarten" was born in Vienna during the prosperity of the Habsburg dynasty.
Augarten's white porcelain is highly acclaimed around the world for its delicate and elegant form, glossy fabric that fits comfortably in the hand, and
exquisite workmanship down to the smallest detail. Carefully
hand-painted by Augarten's skilled painters, the objects add a
high-quality and glamorous atmosphere to the chic interior space as figurines with a strong presence.
Regardless of whether you are a woman or a man, it
is ideal as an elegant gift with heartfelt gratitude for a special anniversary for those who take care of you on a daily basis, a festive gift or present, but
also a reward for your hard work.
In 1718, when the Habsburgs were at their peak, the Vienna porcelain manufactory was born. It was the beginning of the Augarten kiln. This is also the world's first kiln to make coffee cups from porcelain.
In 1744, Empress Maria Theresa ordered the kiln directly under the Habsburg Imperial Family, and since then all products made in the workshop as the "Imperial Vienna Porcelain Manufactory" have been embellished with the two horizontal shields of the Habsburg coat of arms. During this period, Rococo landscape paintings and porcelain dolls painted by Watteau, a leading French painter, were actively produced, and even today, the rococo porcelain of these Vienna porcelain workshops is highly prized by collectors.
One of the representative designs born during this period is "Maria Theresa". It was presented as a dinner set at Augarten Palace, which was Maria Theresa's hunting house, in honor of the Empress. A symbol of hunting in the 18th century, the elegant floral pattern painted only with the color of the fir tree is still very popular today.
Augarten continued to bake porcelain for royalty and nobility, creating a succession of new techniques such as dissolving 24-karat gold dust in liquid and applying it to porcelain, and in the latter half of the 18th century gained the reputation of "the best in the world in technology and quality". With the decline of the Habsburgs, the Augarten was temporarily closed for about 60 years from 1864, but in 1924 the workshop was moved to the Augarten Palace, the former hunting house of Maria Theresa, and the name was revived as the Vienna porcelain manufactory Augarten.
Even now, production is limited because all of the products are handmade in the traditional way by skilled artisans. However, the gentle shining design, warm white porcelain, and moist form are the "life of the Augarten" that is protected only because of their dedication.
