Traditional crafts that have continued since the Edo period, craftsmanship that has been passed down from generation to generation Edo Kiriko.
Edo Kiriko is a general term for kiriko-processed glass products produced in Edo/Tokyo from the end of the Edo period to the present. In 1985, it was designated as a traditional craft designated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and in 2002 it was certified as a traditional craft designated by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.
In 1956 (Showa 31), Mr. Matsutaro Tajima founded "Tajima Glass Co., Ltd." as a glass tableware manufacturing factory in Koto-ku, Tokyo. Since establishing our own factory in Matsue, Edogawa-ku, in 1962 (Showa 37) and starting to make tumblers and wine glasses for commercial use, we have been carefully making glass products that match the times one by one by skilled craftsmen for half a century. Based on the product development and technical capabilities cultivated over many years, we have inherited the charm and culture of Japan's handmade glass to the future.
We have contributed to various manufacturing, including the supply of glass fabrics to designers and other workshops, and won the 3rd Tokyo Metropolitan Challenge Grand Prize.
Please enjoy the skills unique to a manufacturer who is familiar with glass materials.
