feel elegant every time you pick it up, adds
color to your dining table.
It is a gem that can be used for many generations. Relax
with your favorite tableware, carefully hand-painted by Augarten's skilled painters
.
In addition, as a figurine with a strong presence, it
adds a high-quality and gorgeous atmosphere to a chic interior space. It is perfect not only as an elegant gift with heart on a
special anniversary for those who are indebted to you
on a daily basis, but also as a
reward for your hard work.
In 1718, at the height of the Habsburgs, the Vienna Porcelain Manufactory was born. This is the beginning of the Augarten kiln. This is also the first kiln in the world to make coffee cups out of porcelain.
In 1744, Empress Maria Theresa ordered the kiln to be placed under the direct control of the Habsburg Imperial Family, and since then all products made in this workshop as the "Imperial Vienna Porcelain Workshop" have been branded with the two horizontal shields, the coat of arms of the Habsburgs. During this period, rococo landscape paintings by the French painter Watteau and porcelain dolls were actively produced, and even today, the rococo porcelain of these Vienna porcelain workshops are highly prized by collectors.
One of the representative designs born in this era is "Maria Theresa". It was given as a dinner set at the Augarten Palace, which was Maria Theresa's hunting house, as a tribute to the Empress. The elegant floral pattern, which was a symbol of hunting in the 18th century, painted only in the color of fir trees, is still very popular today.
After that, Augarten continued to bake porcelain for the royal family and aristocracy, and created a new technique such as dissolving 24-karat gold dust in a liquid and applying it to porcelain, and in the latter half of the 18th century, it gained the reputation of "the best in the world in technology and quality". With the decline of the Habsburgs, the Augarten was temporarily closed for about 60 years from 1864, but in 1924 the workshop was moved to the Augarten Palace, the former hunting house of Maria Theresa, and the name was renamed the Vienna Porcelain Workshop Augarten.
Even now, production is limited because all of our products are handmade by skilled artisans in the traditional way. However, the gentle shining pattern, the warm white porcelain, and the moist form are the "life of the Augarten" that is protected because of our single-minded commitment.
