Satsuma Vidro / Satsuma Kiriko Flashed Glass "Kohana" Black [LE in 2024] Sake Cup / Bowl 80ml
Description
"Satsuma Kurokiriko" is finished using Satsuma Kiriko's technology and has been selected as a "JAPAN BRAND". Among the thick Satsuma Kiriko, the black color is said to be
very difficult to cut because it does not allow light to pass through.
In addition, only a few skilled craftsmen can make the cut.
This Satsuma black kiriko is a gem that challenges the limits of such technology.
The bold cut that is typical of black kiriko is studded with delicate chrysanthemums, and the
edge of the cold tea shines well.
The sophisticated cutting technique shines very beautifully when exposed to light.
Whether you decorate it or actually use it, you can enjoy the texture and feel of the kiriko.
The cool and modern atmosphere of black can
be used not only as a cold teacup, but also as a sake bowl (sake cup) and small bowl.
Satsuma Bidoro Crafts aims to create authentic works that can impress by faithfully restoring Satsuma Kiriko
.
Why don't you tilt your sake cup while thinking about the people of Satsuma, who were among the first to adopt new information and products from overseas that Japan people had not yet seen and were looking ahead to the future of this country
As a heartfelt gift to a loved one. Regardless of whether you are a woman or a man, it
is perfect for those who are indebted to you on a daily basis and your loved ones as an
elegant gift with a heart on a special anniversary, not only as a festive gift or present, but also as a
reward for your hard work.
Located in the northern part of Kagoshima Prefecture, Satsuma Biidoro Crafts was founded in 1994 to produce Satsuma Kiriko with a workshop on the grounds of Kannon Waterfall Park, where you can hear the whispers of the clear stream of Satsuma Town. From the beginning, we began with the restoration of gold-red, ruri, and indigo Satsuma Kiriko, and in 1997, with the aim of faithfully restoring Satsuma Kiriko, we announced the color "green" as the fourth color, and at the same time, it was designated as a Kagoshima Prefecture Traditional Craft. In 2000, we received the Kagoshima Chamber of Commerce and Industry President's Award at the Kagoshima City Craft Exhibition, and in 2006 we started selling Satsuma black kiriko.
Satsuma Biidoro Crafts is working on the production of newly created Satsuma Kiriko and air-blown crystal works, mainly restored Satsuma Kiriko, and has received high praise from both inside and outside the prefecture.
As proof of manufacture, all products are engraved with "Satuma" and have a "certificate of Kagoshima Prefecture traditional crafts". "Characteristics of Satsuma Kiriko
"
Satsuma Kiriko is a cut glass produced by the Satsuma clan from the end of the Edo period to the beginning of the Meiji era. A major feature of Satsuma Kiriko is the "blur" that appears on the shaved surface. "Colored glass" is made by covering transparent glass with colored glass. At that time, it was the only technology in the whole country that only the Satsuma clan possessed. If you shave off a thick layer of colored glass, the layer of color will become thinner as you go down, creating a "blur". And along with the blurring, the large and deep cut is also a characteristic of Satsuma Kiriko. "History of Kiriko" In the middle of the Edo period, the cut glass "Kiriko" that was
introduced to Nagasaki was first made in Osaka, and eventually it was transmitted to Edo and blossomed as Japan's unique cut glass "Edo Kiriko". At the end of the Edo period, the Satsuma clan created "Satsuma Kiriko", which is a fabric made by layering colored glass on transparent glass, under the influence of Edo Kiriko to promote industry. Backed by the unique sensibilities of the Japan people, Satsuma Kiriko boasted high technology and beauty, but it was abolished in a short time during the turmoil at the end of the Tokugawa shogunate. The extinct Satsuma Kiriko had long been forgotten, but at the end of the 20th century, it was reprinted again and its beautiful appearance was revived.

Since it is handmade, there may be slight variations in the shape and small air bubbles may be unavoidable due to the manufacturing method, but there is no problem with the quality. In addition, the color may be slightly different. Thank you for your understanding.
