to the Taisho period.
the last year of the Edo period (Keio 3, 1867), at the World Exposition (Paris Expo), where Japan participated for the first time, the Satsuma Domain, which participated alone, exhibited Satsuma ware and received high praise. When Japan first participated as a nation, he exhibited a large amount of Satsuma ware of gold-colored paintings, including the 12th shen Shen dynasty (now 15th generation), and his works sold like a fly, and then Satsuma ware grew up as a flower form of export goods for the Meiji government, which was rapidly trying to promote Japan's modernization. Satsuma-style pottery was burned in Tokyo, Yokohama, Kobe, Osaka, Kyoto, Kanazawa, and other places, and it was exported in large quantities. In Kyoto, it was produced in large quantities from the early Meiji period to the Taisho period, and was called Kyo Satsuma. Compared to Honsatsuma, it is characterized by its more delicate and elegant features, and it is said that it captivated Westerners at once, and that it surpassed Honsatsuma with a temporary production volume. After that, Japan rapidly promoted industrialization, which led to a rapid decline due to the shift of human resources from crafts to industry, soaring labor costs, and the conversion of designs.
The technology is hardly transmitted to the present day, and it is also called the instrument of the illusion, and Mr. Tamie Ono continues to make pottery in order to revive the Kyoto Satsuma in the present age.
