It is characterised by its multi-use design and size.
Maruasa Porcelain Factory
Maruasa Porcelain Factory has been manufacturing products there for more than 100 years.
The craftsmen's skills enable them to realise even the most detailed designs, from the moulding of the fabric to the decoration.
The pottery specialises in cups and saucers, receiving many orders not only from Japan but also from overseas.
The Tono region of Gifu Prefecture is a pottery production area with a history of over 1,300 years.
Today, the region has developed to become the largest pottery production area in Japan, with Tajimi, Toki and Mizunami cities planning and producing a wide variety of high-quality products and shipping them domestically and internationally as a major pottery production area collectively known as 'Mino ware'.
The neighbouring town of Marucho Pottery, Takiro-cho, Tajimi City, is a famous producer of kaolin, a raw material for white porcelain suitable for high-temperature firing, and around 1900, when domestic production fell into recession, Takiro-cho switched to porcelain production for export and developed as a town of Western tableware.
With this background, Takiro was the first in Japan to mass produce vessels as products, and it is documented that it was the first to commercialise vessels as products rather than folk art.
High-strength vessels produced at the Marucho Pottery are made from high-quality clay from the town of Takiro. Maruasa Porcelain Factory dares to call its products 'Takilo ware' rather than 'Mino ware'.

・Metal marks (black or silver streak marks) may adhere if scraped hard with a knife or fork.
